June gave $500 to her mother and 40% of the remaining to her father. If 55% of her salary was given away, how much was her salary?

Salary of June = $3300

Explanation:

Let June's salary = 100x

As given , June spent 55% of his salary

⇒ June spent =
(55)/(100)×100x = 55x

As given , June gave 40% of the remaining to her father

⇒June gave money to her father =
(40)/(100)×100x = 40x

Now , the equation becomes

$500 + 40x = 55x

⇒$500 = 55x - 40x

⇒$500 = 15x

⇒ x = $
(500)/(15) = $33.33 ≈ $33

So, the salary of June = 100(33) = $3300
