protons have a 1+ charge
Electrons have a 1- charge
So 12-10 is 2+

The charge of a proton is +1, of an electron is -1, and of a neutron is 0.
12*(+1) +10*(-1) +14*0
= 12 -10
= +2
The correct answer is
(2) +2
.
