(1 - (1)/(4))^(2) \\ \\ ((3)/(4)) ^2 \\ \\ (3^2)/(4^2) \\ \\ (9)/(4^2) \\ \\ (9)/(16) \\ \\ Answer: \fbox {9/16} \ or \ \fbox {0.5625}

This is another way that you could solve the problem. :)


(1 -(1)/(4))^2\\\\(a-b)^2 = a^2-2ab+b^2\\\\(1-(1)/(4))^2 = 1^2 - 2(1)((1)/(4))+ ((1)/(4))^2 \\\\ = 1 - (1)/(2) +(1)/(16)\\\\=1 - (8)/(16) + (1)/(16) = 1 - (7)/(16) = (16)/(16) - (7)/(16)\\\\=(9)/(16)
