Four times a number: 4*x

Increased by five: 4*x + 5

Triple the difference of a number and two: 3*(x - 2)

Then, the equation is

4*x + 5 = 3*(x - 2)

Applying distributive property:

4*x + 5 = 3*x - 3*2

4*x + 5 = 3*x - 6

3*x is adding on the right, then it will subtract on the left

5 is adding on the left, then it will subtract on the right

4*x - 3*x = - 6 - 5

x = -11
