The answer is A) true. Alienation is actually a major theme in Modernist literature. The feeling that you don't belong anywhere in the world is quite pervasive in that literature, and most of the books belonging to the modernist era deal with such emotions. Consider books such as Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, or Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
