Also since the mongols controlled the vast majority of the Silk Road the security of it was phenominal, futher encouraging trade

(2) I believe it was rise in trade along the silk roads. Although the silk road was used, during the Tang Dynasty the use of it slowly and slowly decayed. However, the Mongol Expansion into China rejuvenated the Silk Road.
