The most suitable answer is B.

However, strictly speaking, even the phenotype is determined by DNA. Proteins are simply the observed result of the genotype. Genotype is the information contained in a gene.

A gene is a segment of DNA that is situated in a specific place on a chromosome. A gene is responsible for the physical and inheritable characteristics (phenotype) of an organism. A gene also specifies what structure a protein will have, and what genetic information an RNA molecule will carry.

Phenotype is the visible or observable expression that is as a result of genes, combined with environmental influence and other factors such as diet.
