25 percent. To solve more of these problems put the new price over the original price and you will get the cost of the new object in relation to the original cost. 300/400=.75 which means the new price 1.00-.75=.25 percent drop

x% of $400 is $300
x% * 400 = 300
x/100 * 400 = 300
x * 4 = 300 /4
x = 300 / 4
x = 75%

100% - 75% = 25%
