I put 15 points on this question

A. HOW would you write an equivalent equation to the one below, that does not contain fractions?

(Hint: changing to decimals will not work as 1/3 is a repeating decimal)

B. Do so, then solve the equation. Make sure to show your work and write your answer as a mixed fraction.

1/2 x - 6 = 1/3

Btw, I mean 1/3 and 1/3 to look like 1 is over 2 and 1 is over 3

I have the spooky feeling that I did one just like this for you
yesterday, only that one had decimals instead of fractions.
Oh well . . .

1/2 x - 6 = 1/3

Multiply each side by 2
to get rid of the 1/2 : x - 12 = 2/3

Multiply each side by 3
to get rid of the 2/3 : 3x - 36 = 2

There's your equation without fractions. /\

Now, add 36 to each side: 3x = 38

Divide each side by 3 : x = 38/3

Simplify 38/3 = 12 and 2/3 . x = 12-2/3
