Solve :

3x^2+4x=2

so, 3x^2 + 4x - 2 = 0

using the formula:

x=(-b\pm√(b^2-4ac))/(2a)

so, a = 3 , b = 4 and c = -2

so,

x=(-4\pm√(4^2-4\cdot3\cdot(-2)))/(2\cdot3)=(-4\pm√(16+24))/(6)=(-4\pm√(40))/(6)
x_1=(-4+√(40))/(6)=0.387

And

x_2=(-4-√(40))/(6)=-1.721

so, x = 0.387 or -1.721

The answer is rounded to 3 decimals.

make it without simplifications

√(40)=√(4\cdot10)=2√(10)
x\text{ = }(-4\pm2√(10))/(6)=\frac{2\text{ (-2}\pm√(10))}{2\cdot3}=(-2\pm√(10))/(3)

x\text{ = }(-2+√(10))/(3)\text{ OR }x\text{ =}(-2-√(10))/(3)
