Two trains, Train A and Train B, weigh a total of 366 tons. Train A is heavier than Train B. The difference of their weights is 190. What is the weight of Train A?

Given data

Train A and Train B, weigh a total of 366 tons

A+B= 366----------1

We are also given that

A-B= 190-----------2

from 1

A= 366-B

put this in equation 2, we have

366-B-B= 190

366-2B= 190

366-190= 2B

176=2B

divide both sides by 2

B= 176/2

B=88 tons

Put B= 88 in equation 1 to find A

A+88= 366

A= 366-88

A=278 tons

Hence Train A is 278 tons
