In division why should the remainder not be greater than the divisor

because if the remander is greater than the diviser you can divide into it again

Because if the remainder is greater than the divisor, you can divide into it again. All the answers to operations whether fractions or not, should be at its simplest form (or in this case, to the point where you can't divide anymore).
