How did mutinies (and rebellions) affect the French and Russian army?

Both the French and the Russian army have been affected by mutinies and rebellions in the past, with the Russian army being more prone to this than the French (although even they had a big mutiny during World War I). In general, such occurences weaken the morale and the fighting spirit of an army and also make them seem weaker to the observer.
