Brad would use 1/2 gallon of fuel
1/4 per mile × 2 miles= 1/2 gallon of fuel

If 1 mile = 1/4 then you need to double this for 2 miles
1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2
So he uses 1/2 a gallon
