julia saw 5 times as many cars as trucks in a parking lot. if she saw 30 cars and trucks altogether in the parking lot, how many were trucks?

5 trucks, 25 cars. 5x5=25 25+5=30.

5 times as many cars as trucks, means for every 5 cars, there is one truck.

So we can group 5 cars and 1 truck into 6
30 / 6 = 5 there are five groups of.... the group.

for each group, there is only 1 truck, and there were 5 groups.
Therefore, in the parking lot, there are total of 5 trucks.
