After 1500, Portuguese traders began buying more slaves from the people of East Africa (option A). The Portuguese slave trades did not go inland to look for slaves, it was other African natives who captured and sold small groups from the inland. Thanks to their fast ships and their advancements in sailing they could visit East Africa and to commerce with the slave traders. Around this time Portuguese sailors brought slaves to the recently discovered Brazil, and to capture the natives from South America.
