The plasma membrane allows specific compounds to eneter or exit the cell. Therefore, it is called as semi permeable membrane. This occurs by the process of active/passive transposrt, or facilitated diffusion. The allowance of the compounds in on the basis of their size. Protein channels are also involved in the acrrying the molecules in or out the membarne.

I believe that the answer is semipermeable membrane. Semipermeable membrane by definition is a material that allows some materials to pass through. It is a polymeric membrane that are biologically present in nature and can also be synthesize. This polymeric membrane allows certain molecules or ions to pass through.
