A plane is flying due east in still air at 395 km/h. Suddenly, the plane is hit by wind blowing at 55 km/h toward the west. What is the resultant velocity of the plane?

the v towards the air is 395 kn/hr.
v towards passengers is 0.
so the v towards the ground is (395 kn/hr)east + (55km /hr)west = 340
hence solved
welcome :)

The resultant velocity relative to the air is still 395 km/hr east.

The resultant velocity relative to the passengers is still zero.

The resultant velocity relative to the ground is (395 east) + (55 west) = 340 km/hr east.
