the way you do this is by finding how much one unit is and multiplying by however many we need. we need 4+5+9 parts, or 18 parts. we divide 180 by the number we need, 18, and get 180/18 or 10. to find each of the parts we multiply them by 10. when we do this, we get 40:50:90

We can check this by adding everything to get. when we do this we get 180

Answer:

40 + 50 + 90

Explanation:

180 = 4:5:9

180 = 4x + 5x + 9x

Add the x's

180 = 18x

Divide by 18 on both sides of the equation

x = 10

Substitute in x

180 = 4(10) + 5(10) + 9(10)

Multiply

180 = 40 + 50 + 90

Hope this helps :)
