Adding 8 to the given equation we get:

$\begin{gathered} 4x-8+8=14+8, \\ 4x=22. \end{gathered}$

Dividing the above equation by 4 we get:

$\begin{gathered} (4x)/(4)=(22)/(4), \\ x=(11)/(2)\text{.} \end{gathered}$

Answer:

$x=(11)/(2)\text{.}$
