Answer:
x_(1)=-2 and
y _(1)=9

The formula for point slope form is:

y- y_(1) =m(x- x_(1) )

In the equation y-9=3(x+2), 9 is equal to
y_(1)

to find
x_(1) we need to do a bit more work.

in the formula,
x_(1) is subtracted from x. In the equation given 2 is added to x. we can rationalize that
x_(1) must have been a negative number, since subtracting a negative number is equivalent to adding a positive number. The equation, before being simplified must have looked similar to this:

y- 9=3(x-(-2))
and was then converted to
y-9=3(x+2)

so
x_(1)=-2 and
y _(1)=9
