Although Shackleton's mission to cross Antarctica by foot failed, the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition is hailed as a milestone in expedition history because it was recognized as an epic feat of endurance.

The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition is famously known as the Endurance Expedition. The men in the expedition faced and overcame great hardships to fulfill its mission. They endured being stranded in a land of ice, they endured living without proper shelter, they endured existing without proper supplies and equipment. Through all they have endured, they triumphed!
