Vanson has a bunch of boxes that are all the same. He stacked 4 boxes, measured the stack, and found that it was 3 feet high..

a. How high will stack of 20 of these boxes be?
b. The ceiling in the room where Vanson is working is just a little more than 9 feet high. He wants to stack boxes from the floor to the ceiling. How many boxes will fit in one stack?

a) 20 boxes is (20/4=5) 5 times as many as 4: so the the "tower" will also be 4 times as high as the "original" one: 4*3=12

so it would be 12 feet high

b) let's assume that it's 9 feet. This is actually three times as many as 3 feet, so he can have a tower three times as high as the "original" one: 3*4=12, so three times the 4 boxes of the original, whih is 12 boxes: he can put 12 boxes on top of each other there!
