Solution:

Finding the factor of 36 using models

Draw rectangles only in rows or columns such that the number of rectangles in each row or each column is same. So total number of rows and total number of columns if represented only in rows or columns determines the factor of that number.

For example ,

to find the factor of 36,

Draw 36 rectangles in a single row or in single column. So, 1 and 36 are factor of 36.

Draw 18 rectangles in two rows or in two columns. It means that 2 and 18 are factors of 36.

Similarly, 12 rectangles in 3 rows or in 3 columns, showing that 3 and 12 are factors of 36.

9 rectangles in 4 rows or in 4 columns , shows that 9 and 4 are factors of 36.

Drawing 6 rectangles in each row or each column shows that 6 is a factor of 36.

Factors of 36 are = 1,2,3,4,6,12,18,36.

Pairs of number that is factor of 36 ,using models = (1,36),(2,18),(3,12),(4,9), (6,6)
