These ratios are not equivalent because if you calculate it, they do not start from the same simplified ratio. 12/16 is 3/4 and  26/14 is 13/7 and those two ratios are not equivalent. I hope this helped you

Answer:

Not equivalent

Explanation:

A fraction is a part of whole .

Two fractions are said to be equivalent if their lowest forms are same .'A fraction
(a)/(b) is said to be in lowest form if
HCF(a,b)=1.

Given :

Number of girls = 12

Number of boys = 16

So, fraction =
(Number\,\, of\,\, girls)/(Number\,\, of\,\, boys)

=
(12)/(16)=(2* 2* 3)/(2* 2* 2* 2)=(3)/(4)

Number of girls = 26

Number of boys = 14

So, fraction =
(Number\,\, of\,\, girls)/(Number\,\, of\,\, boys)=(26)/(14)=(2* 13)/(2* 7)=(13)/(7)

As
(3)/(4)\\eq (13)/(7) , these fractions are not equivalent .
