From the information given, the full length of the strip is 78

We need 3 3/4 strips from this strip

We first write 3 3/4 in its decimal fraction form so:

3/3/4 is equivalent to 3 and (3/4) → 3 and (0.75) → 3.75

Now we simply divide the strip by this number so:

78/3.75 = 20.8

So you will get 20 strips each exactly 3 3/4 inches in length.

Of these, you will remain with 0.8 which is 8/10 → 2 / 5 of an inch.

The best answer therefore is D
