Janes original salary was increased 4% and is now 15600 so
x(1+0.04)=15600
1 is the original + the increase
x (1.04)=15600
x=15600/1.04= $15000

You have to make 4% into a decimal which is.04 then multiply 15600 x .04 which equals 624
