How did humanism contradict medieval attitudes toward Christianity?

The main way in which humanism contradicted medieval attitudes toward Christianity was that it literally put the emphasis back on humans themselves, and it spoke to the humanity and importance of the individual, as opposed to the individual being simply a servant of God.
