We can solve this by using distance formula which is d = rt, where, d = distance, r = rate, t = time

Joe can run 1 3/4 miles in 1/2 of an hour, therefore in 3/4 of an hour he will be in the distance of

d = rt
d = (1.75/0.5)(0.75)
d = (3.5)(0.75)
d = 2.63 miles

Wayne can run 2 1/2 miles in 2/3 of an hour, therefore in 3/4 of an hour he will be in the distance of

d = rt
d = (2.5/0.67)(0.75)
d = (3.73)(0.75)
d = 2.80 miles
