Is this a trick question because if it said how many does he make by friday instead of on friday the answer would be 36 but the way the question is asked im forced to put 0

the answer would be 48

Well you did well in adding but remember it started as 12 on Monday. So you simply add 12 to 36 and the new answer is 48.
