Extensive drinking of water during exercise leads to a condition called as hyponatremia. In this, water causes dilution of the blood and sodium levels drops too low. To maintain homeostasis in such situation, water intake shoud be reduced, sodium containing fluids should be taken, extra salt may also be added to the food, to maintain normal sodium levels in the blood.
