Amy earns $300 per week working at a shoe store. She also earns $4 for each pair of shoes she sells. This week, she wants to earn more than $500.

If p is the number of pairs of shoes Amy sells, which inequality represents this situation and what quantities are true for p?

A. 4p + 300 > 500, where p > 50

B. 4p + 300 > 500, where p > 200

C. 300p + 4 > 500, where p > 50

D. 300p + 4 > 500, where p > 200

Answer:

p = 50

Explanation:

If you subtract 300 from 500, you get 200.

Everybody knows that 4 x 5 is 20, so do 4 x 50 then you get 200.

so Amy has to sell at least 50 pairs of shoes.

AKA the answer is A. ;)
