Alfred has three apples. He eats two of them. Alfred puts the eaten apples in the trash. How many apples does Alfred have?

This would be a real word problem that gives extra information because the sentence "Alfred puts the eaten apples in the trash." is unnecessary.

You can write a real word problem that gives extra information by including unrelated information that would not assist in solving the problem.
