so tax is a percent of the whole or 750
750=100%
48.75=x%
750/100=48.75/x
solve for x
multiply both sides by x
750x/100=48.75
multiply both sides by 100
750x=4875
divide both sides by 750
x=6.5
the asnwe ris 6.5%
