The holiday shopping season has affected many Thanksgiving traditions by taking people away from their family to go out, wait, and buy an item/gift/etc. In my opinion, it has come to the point where more stores should think about closing on Thanksgiving day, just so that families can spend time together and enjoy the holiday. The holiday shopping season usually results in fights, jail time, not getting what the person wants, such and such. They are doing this just because they want to get something at a lower price, which of course is great, but stores can wait to get their money AFTER Thanksgiving on Black Friday. They're giving up their holidays, traditions that are important to kids and family members, just to buy something at a cheaper price.

Summary: most stores should be closed on Thanksgiving and shopping can begin on Black Friday.
