In that 16 minutes, the amount that leaks out is (8 - 6) = 2 gallons.
The average unit rate of the leak is
(2 gal)/(16 min) = (2/16) (gal/min) =
1/8 gal/min
= 16 fluid ounce per min
= 4/15 fl oz per second
