Give two reasons why a gold ring is not made of 100% gold.

Pure gold is too soft to get jewelry out of it. Hence 24 karat pure has to be blended with other metals to make it hard sufficient to be used as a jewelry piece. Gold is a remarkably flexible metal. Other metals called alloys are mixed to give it more strength. The pure gold is also expensive.

Rings are for daily wear and gold can't keep its form. Gold can be dented or bent which is why it's mixed with harder metals like copper or silver. Another reason is that companies might want bigger profit by using 51% gold so it's still the main metal and can be considered a gold ring
