The event from English history that came to be called the Restoration was B. the return of Charles II to England from exile in France and his coronation as the English monarch.

This event is called that way because it meant the restoration of the monarchy after the Interregnum, a period in which different forms of republican government were adopted. Charles II had escaped from England in 1651 after being defeated by Oliver Cromwell in a battle. However, he returned to the country after Cromwell died and he was crowned King in 1660, the year in which the Restoration started.
