Given the figure of a composite shape

Part (A):

We will break the shape into smaller shapes and write the missing side lengths

The shape will be as shown in the following figure:

Part (b): we will find the total area:

The shape has 2 squares and two rectangles

The square has a side of length = 3 cm

So, the area of the 2 squares = 2 x 3 x 3 = 18 cm²

The dimensions of the smaller rectangle are: 3 cm, 5 cm

So, the area of the rectangle = 3 x 5 = 15 cm²

The dimensions of the larger rectangle are 3 cm, 7 cm

so, the area of the rectangle = 3 x 7 = 21 cm²

So, the total area of the shape = 18 + 15 + 21 = 54 cm²

So, the answer will be:

Total area = 54 cm²
