The cells that make up multi-celled organisms are called eukaryotic cells and they are of many types and functions. For example in man, there are not less than 8 types of these cells. Each type of cell is specialized for a certain function. These include:

1. Bone cells or Osteocytes. They give strength and support to the body

2. Cartilage cells. They make up tendons and cartilage which help bones to bend and move freely

3.Nerve cells. They Help cells communicate with the brain.

4. Epithelial cells. They form covering layers of all organs in the body .

5. Muscle cell. They make up the muscles.

6. Secretory cells. They produce hormones, oils and other important organic fluids for the body.

7. Adipose cells. They help store energy in form of fat.

8. Blood cells. They make up the blood, e.g. red blood cells and white blood cells.
