Mr. Peabody has to take a taxi from the cheese shop. The fare is $0.90 for the first 1/2 km, and 0.12 for each additional 1/8 km.

a) how far is his home from the shopping he spent $2.82?
b) how much would his taxi cost for a 2 km trip? A 4 km trip? A 6 km trip? An 8 km trip? Is there a pattern to help u figure out the answer? Describe any patterns u see as a result of your calculations

(2.82-.9)/(.12)*(1)/(8)+(1)/(2)\\(1.92)/(.12)*(1)/(8)+(1)/(2)\\16*(1)/(8)+(1)/(2)\\2+(1)/(2)\\2.5

a. 2.5 kilometers.

y=0.12*8x+(0.90-((1)/(2))/((1)/(8))*0.12)\\y=0.96x+(0.9-4*0.12)\\y=0.96x+(0.9-0.48)\\y=0.96x+0.42

y=0.96(2)+0.42=1.92+0.42=2.34\\y=0.96(4)+0.42=3.84+0.42=4.26\\y=0.96(6)+0.42=5.76+0.42=6.18\\y=0.96(8)+0.42=7.68+0.42=8.10

$2.34; $4.26; $6.18; $8.10; yes; y=0.96x+0.42
