D. Heat and Pressure. Metamorphic rocks are formed from pre-existing rocks that have changed their original form because of heat and pressure. For example: igneous and sedimentary rock can turn into metamorphic rocks when subjected to intense heat from magma and pressure from tectonic shifting.
