Answer

Addition sentence: 3 + 5 + 6 = 14

First way to find the sum:

(3 + 5) + 6 = 14

8 + 6 = 14

14 = 14

Second way to find the sum:

3 + (5 + 6) = 14

3 + 11 = 14

14 = 14

Explanation

An addition sentence is a mathematical expression in which we add tow or more numbers together.

We need to choose three numbers form 1 to 6, so our numbers will be 3, 5, and 6

Now to create our sentence we are add our three numbers together:

3 + 5 + 6

Since 3 + 5 + 6 =14, our addition sentence is 3 + 5 + 6 =14

Now, lets use the associate property of addition,
(a+b)+c=a+(b+c) to show to ways to add our addition sentence.

First way

We will associate 3 and 5 using a parenthesis; then we will add 3 and 5 inside the parenthesis, and last, we add the result to the number 6 outside the parenthesis:

(3 + 5) + 6 = 14

8 + 6 = 14

14 = 14

Second way

This time we will associate 5 and 6 using a parenthesis; then we will add 5 and 6 together, and last, we will add the result to the number 3 outside the parenthesis:

3 + (5 + 6) = 14

3 + 11 = 14

14 = 14
