The correct answer is false.

The Constitutional Convention was a meeting of delegates from 13 states in order to revise the Articles of Confederation (America's first constitution). The Articles of Confederation were extremely ineffective due to the weak central government established. Many delegates understood that this constitution needed to be changed.

Some wanted this convention to be secret, as they felt that if the public learned about this meeting that they would influence the proceedings in a negative way. Some members felt that the public would hold comments against delegates who would speak out at this convention.

On the other hand, some felt that the public's voice on this important manner was a necessary part of the democratic process.
