In 5 hours the plane covers 2,750 miles .

What about in 1 hour?

We form an equation:

5 = 2750

1 = x

Where x is distance travelled in 1 hour.

Cross multiplying the equation, we get:

5 * x = 2750 * 1

5x = 2750

x = 2750 /5

x = 550.

I hr = 550 miles.

We know 1 hr has 3,600 seconds and I mile has 1609.34 meters, so:

1* 3,600 = 550 * 1609.34

3,600 seconds = 885,137 meters. How about 1 second?

1 second = 885137 / 3,600

1 sec = 245.87 meters.

Therefore The airplane flies at a rate of 245.9 m/s
