A peanut manufacturing company pays $0.01 per square inch of label used on its cylindrical peanut containers. Each container has a radius of 1.5 inches and a height of 3 inches. If the label covers the lateral area of the container, how much would it cost to produce 400,000 labels?

Lateral area of a cylinder A is :

A = 2 π r h

We use this formula to find area of one label

π = 3.14, r = 1.5 inches and h = 3 inches.

A = 3.14 ×1.5×3

A= 14.13 inch²

1 inch² = 0.01 $

Therefore 14.13 inch² = 14.13 × 0.01 = 0.14 $

Each label will cost 0.14 $

400,000 labels will cost:

400, 000 × 0.14 = 56,000

Therefore it would cost 56,000 $ to produce 400,000 labels
