Alcohol acts like a stimulant for the secretion of gastric acids. This is because that alcoholic drinks come with a different percentage of ethanol. The presence of ethanol is what makes the stomach secrete excess of acids. This is also one of the reasons why consumption of alcohol has been linked to stomach ulcers. It is because of the acidic conditions that develop in the stomach upon drinking alcohol.
