An insect lands on a compact disc that is put into a player.If the insect spins with the disc,is the insect accelerating? why or why not.

Yes the bug will accelerate with the disk. The same way you would on a merry go round. For rotation about a fixed pivot point, the path of any point on a revolving body is a circle, and its linear velocity at any moment is always tangent to that circle.
