Many instruments are used to measure force. The most important is the force gauge or dynamometer. It's in fact a load sensor with a display. Those gauges are often mounted on a test stand or directly integrated in the frame. Some of them are: Force meter or Newton-meter spring balance spring scale torque wrench bathroom scale strain gauge (Measures force within a material) For examples of instruments that measure force visit the Related Link, A newton meter, measured in N (Newtons) A ruler can be used A dynamometer is a tool for measuring force. You use a Newton-Meter (Named after Isaac Newton). Scale A dynamograph is used in measuring mechanical force.

If the force is in the right range ... not too strong and not too
weak ... then a bathroom scale can be used to measure it.

If the force is huge, then you'd need a truck scale.

If the force is small, then you'd need a laboratory balance.
