2 3/4 + 12 6/8
3/4 times 2 (to get 8 on the denominator) = 6/8
2 6/8 + 12 6/8= 14 12/8
14 6/4= 14 3/2

Make the mixed numbers improper fractions: 2 3/4=11/4 and 12 6/8=102/8. Make common denominators: 11/4= 22/8 and 102/8=102/8. Now we add: 22/8+102/8=130/8. Make mixed number: 130/8=16 1/4. Our solution:
\boxed{16 (1)/(4)}
